Binion's has a "January Cash and Charger" promotion, awarding $1,000 each to five people on Jan. 21 at 7:20 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., and a grand prize at the same times on Jan. 28.


The grand prize will have six winners, randomly drawn from a big drum in the following order:

2) $1,000

3) $1,500
4) $2,500

5) $5,000
6) $10,000


You must be present to win, and they'll keep drawing entries until the lucky winner screams and sprints down the aisle (they have two minutes to do so once their name is called).


Entries are earned for every 500 points accrued in slots or table games, redeemable at Club Binion's and placed into the drum the day of the drawing between noon and 9:19 p.m.


I'm generally not a big fan of drawings but do favor the Binon's visor promotion running the rest of this month. Sign up to receive a free player's card, then earn 50 points within 24 hours, and receive a free Binion's visor.


(If you already have a Binion's card prior to last year before the new owners took over, you'll be able to apply for a new one... and of all the casino player's club cards, Binion's is the spiffiest, with see-through lettering.)


Every $1 played earns you two points, so the visor will cost you $25 in coin-in playthrough.


I tried this with the Phone Tag penny slot machine next to Club Binion's. I began with $10 and played 30 cents a pull and won $10.40 off the bat and thought this game was such a cinch, we should all give up our day jobs and become professional penny slot players.


Then came several spins without hitting anything. When the magical "Session: 50" came up on the card reader (I let it go to 51 just to be safe), I cashed out and headed to Club Binion's.
